Photography final

This year in photography I learned how to use camera controls. Such as, shutter speed, depth of field, lighting, and so much more! We did many photoshoots to focus on different techniques to use to enhance our knowledge of photography. For instance I used to just take pictures of whatever I saw without paying attention to the surroundings, so I learned to avoid distractions.  By learning that concept it has taught me to look more closely at my surroundings and who is in the photo. (Like the images below)

In my photoshoots I found myself a lot of color and texture to bring my images “to life”. For instance when we did our Food photoshoot I took close up photos to show the view what the object truly looked like through the camera lens. (Like in the image shown below). IMG_0959.jpg This image was taken during the Food photoshoot I mentioned earlier. The thing about this image that really pops out to me is the fact that the viewer can actually see the cracks and the depth of how close the camera really was. I feel like I could have done better with the lighting portion of the photo and maybe used one less doughnut. The viewer can clearly see though what the center of interest is.

Voice to me means is when you use your voice not just through talking, but you say things that go through your mind using pictures, art, symbols, and you create a new way of how people can see what you see. For instance when we did our Noun Photoshoot we were given the assignment of choosing a word that meant something to us differently that what it could mean to someone else. My noun was family and focused on the part of unity and value of the word family.
7-1-2016 034.JPG This is a picture of my dad and brother, and many people know the man in this photo whom I call my dad is not biologically my dad. I say so what?! Family to me with my voice is not blood, but it is the people who have been there for you when you felt alone. He was there when my mom and I felt alone and against the world. I alway put a huge emphasis on what family really means to me when people ask.

Through all my work I have grown from not knowing much at all about the depth of photography to being able to use rhythm, ,  Space,  the Rule of thirds,  plus so much more! I have truly grown as a photographer and student in this class. I can not wait to be able to use what I have learned in this class and continue to learn as I continue to take photos.

Noun

NOUNS!!!
For this photoshoot I mainly took pictures of people that meant the noun "family" to me.
For instance, I of course took pictures of my of my true family, but the word family to me doesn't just mean the typical blood related people, you used every Christmas and family reunion. In order to get these images I went with mom when my siblings got pictures taken and I took family photos. I took selfies with my friends and siblings. I mainly took posed pictures with me benign them because I'm always close with the people I care about. To make my images better I used a lot of variation with the people and place when I took the pictures. I used the close and far affect and avoided distractions within my images. To add my voice into these images I took pictures of the people that mean the most to me and that I'm really close to. This assignment helped me view the world differently because like I said before, family to me can be anyone you love and care for. They don't have to be blood related or share the same traits as you. Family can be anyone. Friends. Team mates. Pets. Your Boyfriend/Girlfriend. Anyone can be family if you want them to be. Some of my strengths were actually getting out of the normal photoshoot areas (my house and neighborhood). Some of my weaknesses was the resolution in the photos because some seemed a little granny. I wouldn't have changed anything about this assignment because it really opened up my eyes to what family really is.

Food photography

Food Photography

For this photoshoot I took many pictures of different types of food. Such as; vegetables, candy, doughnuts, and much more. For this assignment we went to different tables located around the room and took these photos. To set my scene I used many different lighting and angle combinations. Most of them were posed for and set up to look like a real food commercial photoshoot. I had a lot of fun with this assignment because well who would not have fun shooting pictures of food? Everyone does.

Making Connections

Making Connections

The photography class I am taking at NHS has taught me many different techniques and we have had so many assignments. such as, the compositional photoshoot taught me how there are many techniques to taking pictures. some of these include, point of interest, avoiding distractions, close and far, etc. There are so many techniques, but my understanding with these would not be as strong if it was not for the assignments that followed. My two favorite photoshoot assignments we did were the Depth Of Field and the Alphabet Soup because I have been using the depth assignment to get my pictures to become more natural and closeup. The alphabet assignment taught me to open my eyes to see what is really there. That if you really look closely you will see the world in a whole new way. Now,  you are probably wondering " What was her least favorite project?" and the answer to that is very simple, none. I loved all the projects because they made my photography skills better. They all helped me view the world in a bigger perspective. They have helped me get my voice out there and it has happened with something I love doing. For my voice to get out there I took mainly photos of nature and scenery that stood out to me. One of my most successful projects I have done so far is my  Alphabet Soup  because I really got into the project in searching for the letters in the least obvious places. My least successful project was the Color  because it was hard for me to get out and get the color I needed. For the rest of this year I really wanna learn how to take professional modeling pictures because I want to be able to do that as a summer job. Also how to take better pictures of people in their natural state without having to pose them.

Shutter Speed Reflection

Shutter Speed Reflection

For this assignment I took pictures of mainly my siblings and neighborhood kids playing at the park because that was the best place to get my stop motion pictures. i set up my scene by taking pictures of the kids doing natural things. I chose not to pose them to make the photos more realistic. I used the rules of composition by using point of interest, avoiding distractions, and many others. I incorporated my voice into these picture because I've known these neighborhood kids since i moved here 3 years ago. My view on the world has changed because l now see that there are different ways to take pictures and using stop motion makes you feel like you've stopped time. Some of my strengths were capture the kids in their natural ways and not posing them. some of my weakness were that the photos would turn out blurry sometimes. I wouldn't of changed this assignment because it was fun and interesting seeing how the pictures would turn out.

philosophy reflection

What is the Purpose of a Camera?

I just recently started using a Nikon camera in my photography class, and I have learned so much about it that I did not know before. Before I was using my iPhone 5 to take pictures of things to capture moments. I started to realize that when I wanted to zoom into a picture to get more shallow depth the resolution would not be that great. I believe that the purpose of a camera is to be able to get into the photo more and to be able to show the viewer the true point of interest in the photo. If we did not have cameras then people would have to rely on the use of their phones more than they do already and we would never learn new ways to take pictures. There are many purposes of a camera that I could go on about, but those are the ones that mean the most to me.

DOF favorite image

I shot pictures of many things, but my main focus was flowers and large landscapes. I went around my neighborhood, to parks, and to other family members houses because there was lots of beautiful  scenery. I set my scene by taking pictures of things that were close and had a main subject in them that the viewer could easily spot and focus on. I used rule of composition by using point of interest, texture, and avoid distractions to make my image better by combining all of those into one focused image that the viewer can see the texture of the flower. This assignment helped me view my world better because it helped me see things more close up and to look at the big picture as well.
